Marlborough was founded in London in 1946 by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fisher. David Somerset, the current Duke of Beaufort, third partner of the brand, joined Marlborough in 1948. Created directly by Pierre Levai, as Spanish representative of Marlborough Galleries, Marlborough opened in Madrid in 1992, with a great exhibition of works by Francis Bacon. The Barcelona branch was inaugurated in October 2006. Since then, both branches have coordinated and organised numerous exhibitions by prominent Spanish and international artists.
