Glyptoteket

Carl Jacobsen, founder of the famous beer Carlsberg, was passionate about art and, with the profits generated from his brewing industry, acquired works from various periods to create this impressive collection of over 10,000 pieces that constitutes the museum. Its halls are home to an enormous archive of Egyptian, Greek and Roman sculptures, the largest collection of Etruscan art outside of Italy, and 19th century Danish and French paintings by artists such as Monet, Cézanne and Renoir. Glyptoteket is a place to leisurely enjoy art and learn about the evolution of human civilisation, culture and art over 6,000 years of history.
