Jemaa el Fna square
Jemaa el Fna square

It is Marrakech’s main square and the most important place in the medina. Formed by narrow, intertwining alleys and passageways, it has a unique and special atmosphere that changes over the course of the day. In the morning, the square is packed with monkey trainers, snake charmers, jugglers and spice and juice stands. As night falls, the market stalls are replaced by food stalls that offer a traditional Moroccan dinner along with improvised musical performances by locals. A different way to check out the hustle and bustle of the square is from the balconies of the surrounding restaurants.
